Biography: 
Dr. Robert O’Connor is the former Director of Research for the Irish Cancer Society. Dr. O’Connor is a scientist by background and his specialist area is the understanding of cancer medicines and how they work. He graduated with his doctorate in 1995 and was a lecturer and cancer researcher in Dublin City University until 2015 when he took over the role as Head/Director of Research for the Irish Cancer Society. This role saw him lead implementation of the research strategy of the charity in this important part of its goal to improve outcome for people impacted by cancer. A key focus of that strategy is was ensuring that patients are at the heart of cancer research in Ireland. He is passionate about communicating the facts about science and health to help those impacted by cancer to make the best decisions for themselves and those they care about.
