Epidemiology / Research Fellow (temporary full-time)

Based at the NCRI office in Cork, the person appointed will have responsibility for establishing a steering group for cancer prevention research. They will develop a peer reviewed methodology to estimate and project the proportion of cancers in Ireland attributable to lifestyle risks and generate a report using routinely available Cancer Registry data. The position will also involve collaborating with current staff on projection models, preparing funding applications to support cancer prevention and registration research as well as a requirement to produce a report on the feasibility of routinely capturing breast cancer progression.

Applicants must be educated to PhD level in epidemiology, statistics or health services research with a major statistical component. At least 3 years relevant post-doctoral work experience involving health research data analysis is required. The person appointed will have well developed IT skills including experience in a range of statistical packages. Experience of writing reports and peer-reviewed papers and presenting research at national or international conferences is also essential.

Salary: Department of Health grade VI salary scale will apply: €46,308 - €56,592 per annum.
