Reductions in the incidence of cancer of unknown primary may be a useful indicator of improvements in cancer diagnoses and treatment

A report published by the National Cancer Registry today shows that the incidence of cancer of unknown primary site has decreased significantly since the 1990s. Together with an increase in the proportion of cases that are diagnosed pathologically, this is a positive indication of how cancer services in Ireland have improved over time.
