News from the Director's office - April 2018

News from the Director's Office this month is sadly saying goodbye to Geraldine Smith. Geraldine is a registered nurse who lived and worked in the Middle East for many years.  She came to NCRI with a wealth of experience from working here at home as well. Uniquely, she also came to us with a family legacy, her sister having worked as a Cancer Data Registrar (CDR) before her. Geraldine quickly and voraciously took up her role as CDR and embraced many changes over her years with NCRI. Myself and her colleagues agree it was a pleasure to work with her. Geraldine’s approach to work was no nonsense, hardworking and always friendly.

As NCRI continues to move towards its own bright future the retirement of experienced staff such as Geraldine is a considerable loss. She has made an enormous contribution to NCRI and it has been a privilege to work with Geraldine. As she does things with purpose, its certain her retirement will be handled similarly. Pursuit of other interests and her more creative side will hopefully bring enjoyment. So, with much gratitude we wish her all the best for an amazing retirement! – Godspeed
