This report details the financial impact of a cancer diagnosis arising from a study undertaken in partnership with the Irish Cancer Society. Some of the key findings were that cancer patients incur many additional costs associated with their diagnosis. These include visits to consultants, GPs or other healthcare professionals, buying medications to alleviate symptoms and side effects of treatment, out-of-pocket expenses in relation to travelling to hospital appointments and increased utility bills.
