Today, the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) becomes law. This means that all patients whose data is recorded by the Registry have enhanced rights around the collection and protection of their personal information. The National Cancer Registry values the privacy and security of those patients that we collect data about. To this end, we have produced a poster and flyer that has been distributed to Oncology Centres and Cancer Support Centres throughout the country explaining:
Why the Registry collects data about you
What it means
How the information is used
How the Registry works to protect your privacy and confidentiality rights
See a PDF version of the flyer here and the poster here.
Furthermore, the Registry has updated the legal section of the website, to explain some of the data collection and dissemination in more detail. Please see the GDPR Information page for more.
