This report gives an overview of neuroendocrine tumours (NETs) in Ireland based on data from 1994-2010. NETs are cancers formed by cells that release hormones in response to signals from the nervous system. They occur at various sites in the body but are most commonly diagnosed in the digestive system, particularly the pancreas and small bowel, and in the lung. 1,927 invasive NETs were diagnosed in Ireland from 1994 to 2010, representing an annual average of 113 cases.
