Survival statistics update

The cancer survival statistics on the National Cancer Registry website have been updated to take into account 10 year survival and more recent years of incidence.

Survival by year line chart

Updated survival statistics (based on follow-up of almost 300,000 cancer patients in Ireland during 1994-2014) are now available on our menu-driven survival webpage. Results can be selected by cancer type, diagnosis or follow-up period, sex, age, stage and region of residence, or (if sufficient data are available) combinations of those variables. Net survival estimates are now presented up to 10 years post-diagnosis (previously 5 years), and the number of specific cancer types or groupings included has been increased from 29 to 47. As noted in our recent annual reports, ongoing increases in survival can be seen for most cancer types.
