Latest report from the National Cancer Registry to be published this week

The latest annual report from the National Cancer Registry will be published on Thursday 15th December. Among other topics covered will be the most recent information on trends in numbers and incidence rates of cancer, trends in survival, and numbers of cancer survivors in the Irish population. Total numbers of cancers diagnosed during 2012-2014 were 70% higher than during 1994-1996, although some stabilisation of rates (adjusted for age and population) is now being seen. Cancer now accounts for over 30% of all deaths in Ireland, and its prevention must be a high public health priority.

A press release (including report summary) will be issued on the morning of Wednesday 14th December, with contact details for further information.
