Five-year relative survival figures updated.
Updated figures on five-year relative survival are now available here, based on over 220,000 Irish cancer patients diagnosed between 1994 and 2009, followed up to the end of 2010. For cancers as a whole, and for 26 major cancer types, survival is presented for different diagnosis periods 1994 onwards. Most cancers have shown ongoing, often substantial improvements in survival between successive diagnosis periods (as summarized in our recent annual report). Survival is also tabulated by age at diagnosis and, for recent cases, by gender, HSE area of residence and cancer stage; and one-year survival is tabulated for the more highly fatal cancers.
