The National Cancer Registry Ireland (NCRI) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms Bridie O'Sullivan to its Board.

Bridie is a highly experienced nursing and midwifery leader with more than 20 years' experience across clinical practice, executive leadership, quality improvement and healthcare transformation. Throughout her career, she has held a number of senior leadership roles within the Irish health service, including Regional Director of Nursing and Midwifery, where she provided strategic leadership to strengthen professional governance and improve the quality and safety of patient care.

Bridie has led large-scale service improvement and organisational transformation initiatives, working collaboratively with clinical, operational, academic and executive leaders to deliver sustainable improvements in healthcare quality, workforce capability and patient outcomes. She brings extensive expertise in clinical governance, quality improvement, workforce development and the implementation of national health policy.

Commenting on the appointment, Dr Theresa Redaniel, Acting Director of the National Cancer Registry Ireland, said:

Bridie brings extensive leadership experience from across the healthcare sector, together with deep expertise in quality improvement, clinical governance and healthcare transformation. Her knowledge and insight will be a valuable asset to the Board as NCRI continues its mission to provide high-quality cancer intelligence that supports research, policy and better outcomes for people affected by cancer in Ireland."

Bridie's appointment further strengthens the breadth of expertise on the NCRI Board as the organisation continues to provide trusted cancer data that supports research, policy development and improvements in cancer care.

A Registered General Nurse and Registered Midwife, Bridie also serves as an Adjunct Clinical Professor at University College Cork, reflecting her ongoing commitment to advancing nursing and midwifery education, leadership and professional practice.
