Updated statistics on cancer incidence, mortality and survival, published today (1 December 2020) document ongoing increases in numbers of cases diagnosed (largely driven by population growth and ageing) but also increases in survival and in numbers of cancer survivors.
The latest report published by the NCRI on modifiable risk factors and cancer in Ireland indicates that 29% of cancer incidence (6,200 cases) in Ireland was potentially preventable in 2016.
Data security and confidentiality is of paramount importance to NCRI. The NCRI Board of together with the Director consulted with a wide range of Health Service organisations before agreeing on a revised set of guidelines on the release of confidential data.
